The unkillable Hunter build
Prismatic Hunter — punch, heal, vanish, repeat.
The Liar’s Handshake Prismatic build is the best solo Hunter build in the game, full stop. The pitch is simple: you punch, you heal off the hit, and you go invisible. Do that on a loop and most content can’t kill you. It’s the build people take into solo dungeons and Grandmaster Nightfalls because the survivability is absurd.
Run Melee → Class → Health for stats (Super and Weapons fill in after). Melee fuels your damage and the heal, Class keeps your dodge ready, and Health is your safety net for the moments you whiff.
💡 Going invisible isn’t just defense — it resets enemy aggro, so use it to peel off and reposition mid-fight, not only to survive.
The loop that powers it: Combination Blow
The magic underneath every melee Hunter build is two abilities working together:
- Combination Blow — melee kills increase your melee damage and refund melee energy.
- Gambler’s Dodge — dodging near an enemy instantly refills your melee.
Chain them and you never stop punching: kill with melee, dodge, melee is back, kill again, dodge again. The damage keeps ramping. This loop is the engine — Liar’s Handshake just adds the heal and the invisibility on top.
Combination Blow + Gambler’s Dodge is the core. Every good melee Hunter build is some version of this loop.
Assassin’s Cowl — the budget brawler

No Liar’s Handshake yet? Assassin’s Cowl (Arc) does the same punch-heal-vanish fantasy. Powered melee kills heal you and turn you invisible. The community setup pairs a 1-2 punch shotgun (shoot, then melee for big damage) with a blinding grenade launcher for crowd control. It’s a great stepping stone while you chase the Prismatic version.
Watch it in action
The video above walks a full Prismatic Hunter solo build — handy if you learn the loop better by watching it than reading it.
Where to go next
This whole build leans on Prismatic. If you haven’t unlocked it or you’re fuzzy on the Aspects and Fragments, read the Prismatic guide before you farm the exotics.
