Destiny 2 Raids in Order — List & Loot

Destiny 2 has eight live raids. The newest is Salvation's Edge, the endgame of The Final Shape. Newer raids hit harder but drop better loot, so most players climb in roughly this order: Vault of Glass and Crota's End for your first clears, then Root of Nightmares, then Salvation's Edge once you've got a team. Every raid is farmable — you can rerun encounters and reroll drops as much as you want.

Destiny 2 raids in order

Raids are Destiny 2’s six-player endgame. Three or four encounters each, real mechanics, real wipes — and the best armor and weapons in the game. Here’s the full list in release order, plus where to start.

The Witness, final boss of Salvation's Edge

Where to start

New to raiding? Run Vault of Glass or Crota’s End first. Both are short, every step is documented to death, and finding a group takes minutes. You’ll learn the basics — callouts, damage phases, “don’t stand in the bad stuff” — without a five-hour wall.

Want loot fast? Root of Nightmares is the easiest modern raid and drops Conditional Finality, one of the best exotic shotguns in the game.

Ready for the real test? Salvation’s Edge is the current endgame raid. It’s long, it’s mechanically dense, and the final fight against The Witness wraps up the whole Light-and-Darkness story. Bring a team that talks.

Every raid is farmable

Good news for grinders: all eight live raids let you rerun encounters and reroll drops as much as you want. No weekly lockout on the chest — if you want to chase a god roll or a specific exotic, you can sit there and farm it. The table above is sortable, so you can line up release dates, encounter counts, and raid exotics side by side.

Frequently asked questions

What is the newest Destiny 2 raid?

Salvation's Edge is the newest raid, released June 7, 2024 with The Final Shape. You fight your way to The Witness as the final boss.

How many raids are in Destiny 2?

There are eight live raids right now: Vault of Glass, Last Wish, Vow of the Disciple, King's Fall, Root of Nightmares, Crota's End, and Salvation's Edge.

Which raid should I do first?

Vault of Glass and Crota's End are the friendliest first raids — short, well-documented, and easy to find groups for. Save Salvation's Edge for when you have a coordinated team.

Are Destiny 2 raids farmable?

Yes. Every live raid is fully farmable. You can rerun encounters and reroll loot as many times as you want each week, including the final boss.

What is the easiest raid in Destiny 2?

Root of Nightmares is widely considered the easiest. It has light mechanics and forgiving damage checks, making it a good step up from your first clears.

Do raids have a power requirement?

Raids scale to current endgame power, so you want to be near the soft cap before you start. Older raids are easier to overlevel than the newest one.
