  • Vesper’s Host — a four-encounter, two-boss run that brings back the fan-favorite exotic Ice Breaker. Full guide →
  • Warlord’s Ruin — five encounters ending at Hefnd’s Vengeance, Blighted Chimera, which drops the exotic Void sidearm Buried Bloodline. The best exotic chase on this list. Full guide →
  • Ghosts of the Deep — built around the Piercing Light mechanic: kill Wellkeeper Knights to make a pool for Ecthar, then complete the ritual for Šimmumah.
  • Spire of the Watcher — three encounters (Ascend the Spire, Akelous the Siren’s Current, Persys Primordial Ruin) with the exotic bow Hierarchy of Needs.
  • Duality — three encounters where bells flip damage roles; bosses are Gahlran’s shadow and then Caiatl. Drops the exotic sword Heartshadow.
  • Grasp of Avarice — the Cosmodrome throwback. Beat Phry’zhia the Insatiable, ride the Sparrow bomb, fire the cannons, and down Captain Avarokk the Covetous to chase Gjallarhorn. Full guide →
  • Prophecy — three encounters including the Phalanx Echo (Taken Psions plus Knight Echoes) and the Kell Echo, which alternates a Cleansing phase and a Damage phase.

New to dungeons? Start with Grasp of Avarice or Prophecy. They’re forgiving and teach the core 3-player loop without punishing mistakes.

All eight dungeons are farmable, so once you clear a boss you can replay it for loot. Done here? Step up to a full six-player raid next.

Frequently asked questions

How many dungeons are in Destiny 2?

There are eight Destiny 2 dungeons, from Prophecy (2020) up to Sundered Doctrine (2025). Each is a 3-player activity that sits between a strike and a full raid in length and difficulty.

What order should I play Destiny 2 dungeons in?

There's no required order — pick by the loot you want. New players should start with Grasp of Avarice or Prophecy. Chase Buried Bloodline in Warlord's Ruin and Gjallarhorn in Grasp of Avarice.

Can you farm Destiny 2 dungeons?

Yes. All dungeons are farmable for loot, and any encounter can be replayed by launching from orbit. Exotics like Buried Bloodline and Finality's Auger are random drops, so farming the final boss is how you get them.

Which dungeon has the best exotic?

Warlord's Ruin drops Buried Bloodline, a top-tier Void sidearm, and Grasp of Avarice gives you Gjallarhorn, the iconic rocket launcher. Both are worth the farm.

How many players do dungeons need?

Dungeons are built for three players but can be done solo or in a duo. Solo flawless runs are a popular challenge for the best loot bragging rights.
